NHS Under Treat From Lifestyle Choices
The Health Minister, Mark Drakeford, has demanded that changes be made to tackle the current NHS crisis. Having to "rescue" people from "harm that need never have happened" is crippling the NHS. He also wants a UK government crackdown on the amount of sugar found in processed food.
In a poll from ICM Research more than 50% of the people questioned were in favour of the NHS refusing or limiting treatment for those individuals who refused to make lifestyle changes.
Should The NHS Cater For Smokers and Heavy Drinkers?
It raises an interesting question, does everyone have the right to treatment no matter how they chose to live their lives?
If people decide that they wish to live a certain way then should they also have to pay for the consequences of that lifestyle?
Which ever way you want to look at it one thing is clear...the NHS cannot survive using the current model that caters for a society that likes to overindulge.
