Vaping is one of the simple pleasures in life, with the perfect juice flavour making all the difference to the experience.
Maximising vape flavour can involve a few simple, precautionary steps to make sure you’re getting the most out of your e-liquid with every hit.
But how do you choose the right vape juice for you, and get the most out of that all-important flavour? This guide will help you to understand how e-liquids work and what’s out there in the market so that you can make an informed decision.
Read on to find out everything you need to know about vape juices.
E-liquids, also known as vape juice, are a replacement for traditional cigarettes that are responsible for that infamous plume of vapour associated with vaping.
E-liquids are made of four key ingredients: nicotine, vegetable glycerin (VG), propylene glycol (PG) and any flavourings. You can get different blends of each depending on how much of a nicotine hit you’re after, how much vapour you’d like and how strong the taste should be.
Choosing the right vape juice can be a minefield, so we’ve got some ideas on how you can find the right one for you below.
There are lots of different vape models on the market, but they largely come down to two types: disposable or refillable.
A disposable vape has a set amount of flavour, with little customisation. These are great for someone wanting to try a new vape flavour, who prefers a bigger nicotine hit or who’d like to try vaping for the first time without committing to an expensive device.
A refillable vape often involves an up-front cost of purchasing the device and buying your own vape juices to fill it with. This offers far more customisation as you have control over the wattage, voltage and of course, which flavour e-liquid you’d like in the tank.
Now you’ve settled on which vape is right for you, there are a few things you should know about keeping your kit in tip top shape.
Cleaning your vape regularly will make a huge difference in both your vape’s shelf life and the flavour of your e-liquid. This is because using your vape regularly can cause build-up over time. Cleaning your vape doesn’t need to be an arduous task, often simply needing a clean with warm soapy water. Make sure to consult the manufacturer’s manual before you do so.
Another way of keeping your vape like new and tasting great is by regularly changing the coil. If you’re vaping every day, the coil should need changing every few weeks. The longer you leave your coil, the chances increase of the coil developing a burnt taste - not pleasant at all.
Which vape juice you go for is a personal choice. There are thousands of brands and flavours to choose from, but first we need to take things back to basics so you can find the best juice for your vape.
Freebase nicotine
With nicotine levels ranging from 0-12mg, traditional vape juices known as freebase nicotine come in all shapes and sizes, with thousands of different flavour choices and a blend to find the right balance of vapour and flavour for you.
Nicotine salts
Nicotine salts are a newer type of e-liquid that have a higher amount of nicotine in while still retaining a smooth throat hit. Nicotine salts may be better for those who have just quit smoking, as they have a stronger nicotine hit.
Both freebase and salts are readily available online and in shops - it just comes down to personal preference, so it’s worth trying out both to see which suits you best.
Mix up your choices
If you think the flavour of your vape juice has dulled, there may be a simple solution: we’re all human and sometimes, our brain just gets used to having the same, delicious flavour we enjoy having every day.
It’s worth considering whether you should branch out and try some new flavour or a stronger e-liquid to reset your tastebuds. There are plenty of vape juice uk flavours to try out, with new brands entering the market every day.
Look at your juice blend
A key factor in maximising vape juice flavour is considering the mix of VG and PG. While a fairly standard mix will be 50/50, if you’re after maximum flavour you need to focus on blends with a higher ratio of PG.
VG is responsible for the amount of vapour, while PG affects the flavour. The trade off is that you’ll have less of a vapour cloud and more of a throat hit, so experiment with new blends to find what suits you.
Adjust the ohms
Ohms is the electrical resistance in your vape. Adjusting the ohms, or resistance, is often as simple as pressing a button on your vaping device up or down. If you adjust the ohms down, you can increase the potency of your vape juice.
If you’re an experienced vaper, you could look into sub-ohming and customise your own coils to further make the flavour of your e-liquid go even further.
Consider your bottled juice
When you’re not using your vape juice, where are you keeping it for storage? E-liquids should be kept in a cool, dark place to retain maximum flavour and potency.
Another thing you can do with a new bottle of vape juice is ‘steep’ the flavour. You can do this by exposing the liquid to air after shaking the bottle with the lid on. This can improve the flavour considerably.
There’s a whole world of vaping juice flavours for you to choose from and a lot of different ways you can maximise your e-liquid’s flavour potential. Looking after your vape and following our top tips will take your vaping to the next level, so don’t be afraid to experiment with new flavours.
