The Top Mistakes Smokers Make Whilst Trying To Quit

The truth of the matter is while some people can just give up the little white stick and never look back, others have a really hard time trying to quit smoking. Obviously those that find it ‘easy’ so to speak are in the minority with most people relapsing multiple times before they finally manage to quit.

Below are the top mistakes smokers make whilst trying to quit.

Not Quitting For Themselves

When it comes to any addiction there is always one important question that you need to ask yourself...are you quitting for yourself and because you want to? I know this may seem like a silly question but some people try and quit for a whole array or other reasons such as for their partner.

Give Up After a Set Back

In order to quit you need to be mentally prepared and willing. If there is the slightest doubt in your mind then chances are you will relapse time and time again. That said relapsing isn't necessary a bad thing, well not if you relapse after being totally committed to quitting. The thing is even though we all look the same on the outside, well without the subtle differences, on the inside our bodies work in different ways. While some people use NRT to help them quit others use electronic cigarettes that contain nicotine e liquid or even hypnosis. The important thing to remember is that although one method worked for a friend that doesn't mean that it will work for you. If you have a setback learn from your past mistakes and remember to write down what worked and what didn't work to improve your future chances of success.

Not Accepting Support

Anyone that has tried or managed to quit will know that this is no easy feat. It is important to have the support from both your family and friends - let them know your goals and ask them for their support.

Sometimes these family members and friends smoke too – by communicating with them and asking them in future not to smoke around yourself can make a massive difference. If you are someone who may not have that support then there are also quit smoking groups in which you can join in order to beat your addiction.

Putting Themselves In A Tempting Situations.

If you are truly seriously about quitting smoking then you should be prepared to make some sacrifices. It is a well know fact that a lot of smokers do well on their quest to quit only to stumble on something such as a drunken night out with their friends. In order to give yourself the best possible chance of quitting, on nights where your friends are drinking or are heading out to places that could easily tempt you either try and suggest somewhere else to go or if you don’t want to do this give these times a miss until you have well and truly quit and feel comfortable in the company of smokers.
