Manchester Cracks Down On Vaping

As both the awareness and electronic cigarette usage increases in the UK we are seeing more and more places deciding to take up a no vaping policy. In recent news it has been reported that e-cig users in Greater Manchester are being forced to share outdoor smoking shelters inhabited with smokers who are still using analogs and leaving a trial of smoke in their wake.

The most noticeable places that have banned electronic cigarette usage include:

  • Old Trafford
  • The Etihad Stadium
  • Metro Link Stops
  • Train & Tram Stations
  • Caffe Nero
  • KFC
  • Manchester Airport
  • The Academy
  • O2 Apollo
  • The Manchester Arena
  • Bridgewater Hall
  • Manchester Metropolitan University & Universite of Manchester

These are just to name a few but the list goes on and on....

Do e cigarettes really pose such a health risk to the people of Manchester or are the bans unjust? On one hand you have those who support electronic cigarettes and will tell you that there has been no evidence that they pose any risk to the general public, in fact quite the opposite, and then you have the others who think electronic cigarettes promote the unhealthy habit and make smoking appear normal again after the 2007 ban. What are your thoughts?
