Tens of thousands of people die as a result of smoking in the UK every year. Many smokers try and fail to quit, not always realizing how difficult the process of giving up cigarettes can be.

Over the years, there has been a lot of information released on the best way to stop smoking. Recent research has changed the way that information looks, as e-cigarettes are now being touted as a good way to stop using regular cigarettes.

In the United Kingdom alone, about three million people vape. Research indicates that more than 17,000 people would have benefited from vaping, but they were not given the necessary information to get them started.

Cancer Research UK examined the lives of two people who used to smoke but were able to use vaping to help them quit. Both of these individuals no longer smoke, and they were turned on to e-cigarettes from a program aimed at helping people quit traditional cigarettes.

More People Could Have Been Helped

Dr. Joanna Miler, who works with a service to help people quit smoking, commented that e-cigarettes are a useful tool when it comes to making a plan for an individual to stop smoking. Many smokers have tried and failed to quit in the past. They are frustrated with the process. Others are partially addicted to the simple act of hold a cigarette and raising it to their lips. Dr. Miler stated that to help people stop smoking, they usually have them start with a certain amount of nicotine; over time, they cut back on that amount. There are e-cigarettes that do not have any nicotine in them, which means they can help people get away from tobacco altogether.

Vaping is also recommended by the NCSCT, or the National Centre for Smoking Cessation and Training. Smoking is a dangerous way to get nicotine. When a smoker has tried to quit and has failed, even with the help of medication, it may be time to try e-cigarettes.

The goal is to eliminate the use of tobacco. E-cigarettes can help people do this. There are certainly no guarantees, but there have been a lot of success stories when it comes to people using e-cigarettes.

Some people do find success when they just put down their cigarettes and never pick them back up again. However, e-cigarettes are 60 percent more successful than this method. Still, there are service providers that will not recommend e-cigarettes to anyone. They prefer nicotine replacement strategies.
